Inspections

Ofsted is responsible for the management of LEA inspections, which take place under Section 38 of the Education Act 1997. They are conducted by inspection teams, led by Her Majesty's Inspectors (HMI), and may include Audit Commission staff.  LEAs will normally be informed at least three months before the proposed date of inspection.
